Weihnachtszeit ist Button-Zeit! - mia mai

Are you already in the Christmas mood? The German Christmas markets have been open for a few days now, and the temperatures in some parts of the country are already around zero. Even if the snow situation is not really wintry yet, the Christmas spirit can slowly come up. And to speed things up a bit, we got down to designing again. The result are these three wintry button designs that you are welcome to use for your Mia Mai buttons!

Snowflake Symmetry of Winter

Snowflakes have a diameter of about five millimeters and weigh 4 milligrams. Their symmetry has always fascinated people. The same applies to frost flowers, a special form of hoarfrost that can form on thin windows when the outside temperature drops below zero degrees. There are many other forms that fascinate us with ice. Our designer was also inspired by this and created a symmetrical winter button.

Once used as a means of transport and not only used in the snow, sleds are now mainly found as (children's) toys and as sports equipment. Incidentally, steerable sledges first appeared around 1870 in St. Moritz, Switzerland, at a time when mass tourism in the Alps was slowly beginning. Whether you're keen on sledding down the mountain yourself, or watching others do it, the sled button is a great way to show you love snow sports.

The snowman as a button

Of course he can't be missing here: the Snowman. Exactly when humans first started creating an "image" out of snow is a matter of debate. For a good 200 years, however, one can be sure that children and adults have built snow sculptures, sometimes more, sometimes less elaborate, in the winter months to pass the time. These were then adorned with whatever was available and made human-like. Our button is based on the classic snowman design: three balls of different thicknesses, the top one of which represents the snowman's head. A face is painted or pinned onto this, and in this case there is even a hat and a scarf for the white guy.
